Treatment Options
Treatment may be as simple as using artificial tears or topical dry eye drops a few times a day. However, Punctal Occlusion can be benefictial in more persistent dry eye cases. This is a simple non-surgical procedure which may provide long-term relief of  the Dry Eye Syndrome symptoms. It is safe, quick, painless and totally reversible, using tiny plugs called "punctal occluders."
How Punctal Occluders Work?
In the inner corner of each of your eyes, there are upper and lower tear ducts, also called “punctum ducts.” Punctal occluders block the punctum, which is the drainage duct that carries tears away from the surface of the eye.

Punctal occlusion can be compared to putting a stopper in a sink drain, as it keeps tears on the eye's surface for longer periods. It is a common procedure is safe, quick, painless and totally reversible.

Punctal occluders are made of a very soft flexible silicone, similar to that used in contact lenses. They are carefully manufactured into an extremely smooth and precise design and are barely visible to the eye.

Why the Odyssey Punctal Occluder? The Parasol Punctal Occluder from Beaver Visitec is one of the most advanced occluders available. In addition to treating Dry Eye Syndrome, it can reduce or eliminate the major cause of contact lens discomfort.

It is the #1 selling punctal occluder in the dry eye market because it offers important benefits:

  • Increased comfort: The Parasol plug's advanced design provides a truly custom fit.
  • Increased procedure success: Thanks to its unique, patented shape, the Patasol plug is easy to insert because it automatically adjusts to your tear duct opening. It also has the highest retention rate among all its competitors,* so you are less likely to experience pop-out.
