Shared care scheme

We are part of a limited group of practiontioners that provide clinics specifically for the assessment and post-operative care of patients with both cataract and glaucoma.

slit lamp imaging systemThe way that the NHS is delivering it's services has dramatically changed over the years since its inception and one of the better changes is that those of us with stable ocular conditions can be seen for assessment within the community.

This has many advantages, not least the fact that patients no longer have to attend busy hospital clinics for their regular check-ups.

Our Practices were part of the very first glaucoma shared care scheme in the country and we now provide long term care for over 200 patients in the Fylde Coast area and this number is growing on a weekly basis. The patients deemed stable by their hospital consultant can be referred to our care, freeing up the hospital clinics and making life a little easier for the patient involved.

We also can provide ongoing care for those with developing cataracts from advising them when it's the right time to have an operation to helping them decide where to have the operation.

The new choose and book services offered by the NHS means that patients can potentially decide which hospital to attend for their treatment. We will then be happy to continue the care post-operatively, reducing hospital visits and rest assured that any complications , which are very rare, will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

We take pride in the services we offer and we are constantly striving to make things easier and better for every individual that crosses our threshold.
